SC Villa have officially announced Serbian coach Nemanja Milincic as their new head coach, replacing Morley Byekwaso after a two-year stint at the club.
Milincic, who holds a UEFA Pro License alongside A, B, and C certifications, brings over ten years of coaching experience, including time as assistant coach of the Bulgaria national team during the 2022/23 season.
He has also worked with Red Star Belgrade, AEK Athens, and Saudi Arabia’s Al Ettifaq, among others.
SC Villa President Hajji Omar Ahmed Mandela described Milincic’s appointment as a strategic decision to align the club with modern footballing standards.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Milincic to the SC Villa family. His experience and vision match our goals to build a team that will dominate locally and compete on the continent,” said Mandela in a statement.
In his first remarks as head coach, Milincic expressed both humility and hunger for success.
“I am honoured to join a club with such rich tradition and a passionate fanbase. The expectations are high, and I’m ready to deliver. My goal is to build a competitive squad and make Villa supporters proud,” he said.
The 37-year-old’s immediate focus will be pre-season preparations, reviewing the current squad, and integrating new signings.
This appointment also continues Villa’s recent tradition of tapping into Serbian expertise, following in the footsteps of Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic, Zivojin Zivunovic, and Dusan Stojanovic.
As Uganda’s most decorated club, the 17-time Uganda Premier League champions hope Milincic’s modern approach and continental experience will restore their stature at the top of Ugandan football.
