World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz is heading to the Queen’s Club final for the second time after a decisive 6-4, 6-4 win over Roberto Bautista Agut on Saturday. This extends Alcaraz’s career-best winning streak to 17 matches.
In hot conditions, the five-time Grand Slam champion hit 36 winners and 15 aces, dispatching Bautista Agut in just 90 minutes.
Alcaraz will now face Czech world number 30 Jiri Lehecka in Sunday’s final, who pulled off an upset with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 victory over British star Jack Draper.
This marks Alcaraz’s first tournament since his French Open victory, and he’s now reached his fifth consecutive final, having already won titles in Paris, Rome, Barcelona, and Monte Carlo.
Alcaraz, who won Queen’s in 2023 and then Wimbledon twice, is one win away from becoming only the second Spaniard to win Queen’s twice.
Alcaraz quickly took control against Bautista Agut, breaking early in the first set and maintaining his lead throughout. He sealed the win decisively in the second set, much to the delight of the Spanish fans.
Earlier, Jiri Lehecka ended Jack Draper’s bid for a maiden Queen’s final appearance. Lehecka is the first Czech to reach the men’s title match at Queen’s since Ivan Lendl in 1990.
“It means a lot,” Lehecka said. “You don’t meet a player like Jack every day, he’s an amazing competitor.”
Draper, who hoped to become the first British singles champion at Queen’s since Andy Murray in 2016, revealed that tonsillitis affected his performance.
“I haven’t felt good all week… You’ve just got to go out there and do the best you can,” he stated. Lehecka’s path to the final included earlier wins over Jacob Fearnley and world No. 12 Alex de Minaur.
