The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA), now rebranded as the Uganda Table Tennis Federation (UTTF), has announced the postponement of its Elective General Assembly to Sunday, June 29, 2025.
The meeting was originally scheduled for an earlier date but was moved primarily to align with new requirements set out in the updated Sports Act.
In an official notice shared with members and district representatives, UTTA President Robert Jjagwe and Acting General Secretary Rukundo Joseph Ronald explained that the shift is due to two major challenges: delayed district mobilization and financial strain linked to the new legal guidelines.
One of the key hurdles was the delayed conclusion of district coverage for National Council of Sports (NCS) applications.
The law now requires at least 50% of Uganda’s districts to participate in the AGM. “We had little time thereafter to mobilize the Districts to attend the AGM,” read the statement, emphasizing that full compliance is necessary under the new Sports Act.
The expanded composition of the AGM also pushed up logistical costs significantly.
With recent efforts already having drained financial resources, including nationwide district outreach, the UTTA leadership stated they need a few more days to secure adequate funding for the venue, public address systems, stationery, and other essential logistics.
Despite the delay, the federation encouraged all delegates to remain engaged and prepare for the rescheduled assembly, which will now take place at Baguma’s Restaurant on Sunday, June 29, 2025, starting at 8:30 AM.
The leadership extended apologies for any inconvenience caused, while reaffirming their commitment to a credible, lawful, and well-organized electoral process.
