Buhimba United Saints president Eng. Ahurra Julius has hailed his club’s historic promotion to the Uganda Premier League, promising that they are not stepping into the top flight just to make up the numbers.
After finishing third in the 2024/25 FUFA Big League with 50 points, Buhimba United Saints secured promotion for the first time in the club’s history.
A goalless draw with Kiyinda FC on the final day was enough to seal the deal, capping off a consistent debut campaign in the second tier.
“Getting promoted to the Uganda Premier League has not been easy,” said Ahurra, reflecting on the journey. “But our experience in the Big League gave us a picture of where we were going. It’s been a strong performance right until the end.”
The club played 28 matches in the season, scoring 33 goals and maintaining the kind of form that put them in the promotion conversation early on. But Ahurra says their ambitions go far beyond just reaching the top division.
“We are aiming high, and we are not going to participate, we are going to compete,” he stated firmly. “This team has shown that it belongs at the top, and we’re ready to fight for our place.”
Ahurra credited the players, coaching staff, and fans for staying focused throughout a challenging season. He also praised the role of teamwork, discipline, and what he described as divine grace in pushing the club over the line.
The promotion means Buhimba United Saints will join Uganda’s football elite for the 2025/26 season, alongside Gaddafi FC and Calvary FC, who also earned automatic promotion.
