Two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant is set to join the Houston Rockets in a major trade from the Phoenix Suns.
The 36-year-old forward confirmed the move in New York, with the deal involving eight other players and becoming official in early July.
The Suns will receive Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the 10th pick in Wednesday’s NBA Draft, and five future second-round picks.
Durant expressed his excitement, stating he was “looking forward to it” and felt he’d be “a good addition” to the Rockets, praising their leadership and strong previous season.
A four-time Olympic champion and 2014 NBA MVP, Durant won two NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018.
He will reunite with Rockets coach Ime Udoka, with whom he previously worked on the Brooklyn Nets and the US Olympic squad.
This high-profile acquisition is expected to significantly bolster the Rockets’ championship aspirations.
