Algerian midfielder Houssem Aouar has set his sights on winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, calling it the “Holy Grail” of his career.
The 26-year-old, who switched allegiance from France to Algeria in 2023, believes in the current Algerian squad’s potential.
“The biggest goal of my career is to win a title with Algeria,” Aouar told L’Équipe. “We have a good team… We are ambitious, and we have a coach who gives us confidence.”
Despite Algeria’s disappointing outings since their 2019 AFCON triumph, Aouar is optimistic for 2025.
“For us, the goal is simple: we want to win,” he stated.
His confidence comes after a successful season with Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad, where he scored 12 goals and provided four assists.
