Kawempe Muslim Ladies Football Club have appointed sports journalist and media personality Hamuza Waiswa, also known as Mulongo Sports, as their new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant shift in the club’s leadership ahead of a transformative phase.
Waiswa replaces Lubuulwa Ahmed Ibrahim and steps into a role that places him at the helm of the most storied team in the FUFA Women Super League.
The timing of the appointment is particularly strategic, as it comes just hours after Kawempe sealed a landmark partnership with Vipers Sports Club.
The partnership will see the Valley Queens become the official women’s team of the reigning Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup champions beginning with the 2025/26 season.
Waiswa is expected to oversee the implementation of this partnership, positioning Kawempe for even greater competitiveness both on and off the pitch.
With five league titles to their name and a reputation for producing some of Uganda’s finest female football talent, Wasswa’s role will extend beyond operationalize leadership to safeguarding and enhancing the club’s legacy in talent development.
Waiswa’s background in sports media and deep ties within the football community are expected to help strengthen this pipeline and modernise the club’s engagement with fans and stakeholders.
