The Uganda men’s rugby 7s national team touched down at Entebbe International Airport on Wednesday morning, back home from Mauritius where they participated in the 2025 men’s Rugby Africa 7s tournament.
Although the team failed to defend their title and had to settle for a fifth-place finish, one of the players, Malcolm Daniel Okello, was a winner.
Okello received an individual award for Top Points Scorer during the tournament. He scored five tries and kicked ten conversions to tally 45 points, the highest by any player.

This is Okello’s second individual award in an international tournament representing Uganda. In 2022, he clinched the same Top Points Scorer award at the Rugby Africa U20 Barthés Trophy in Nairobi, Kenya.
