Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is leaving Everton as a free agent, ending his nine-year spell with the club. The 28-year-old England international’s contract expires Monday.
Calvert-Lewin, who joined Everton from Sheffield United in 2016 for £1.5 million, scored 71 goals in 273 games.
In an emotional Instagram post, he called the decision “incredibly difficult,” stating Everton had been his “home” since he was 19.
His most successful season was 2020-21, with 16 Premier League goals and an England call-up for the Euros.
However, injuries and inconsistent form have plagued his more recent campaigns. He hasn’t added to his 11 England caps since 2021.
Calvert-Lewin emphasized the decision was a family one, made to “seek a new challenge.”
His departure leaves Everton searching for a new striker ahead of their move to Bramley-Moore Dock, with Thierno Barry of Villarreal reportedly linked.
His late winner against Crystal Palace in 2022, securing Premier League survival, remains a highlight of his time at the club.
