Ugandan defender Elio Capradossi is gazing at an uncertain future, as he officially becomes a free agent after today, with his contract at Italian side AS Cittadella expiring, leaving him without a club ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Capradossi joined Cittadella in November 2024 and quickly cemented his place as a defensive pillar. Despite joining halfway the season, he made 16 appearances, starting in 12 games, proving his reliability even as the club battled at the wrong end of the Italian Serie B.
Despite his solid performances, Cittadella failed to survive and dropped to the Serie C. Negotiations to extend his stay are uncertain at the moment, as the club could part ways with one of their most versed players.
A product of the AS Roma academy, Capradossi has spent his career across various Italian sides including Bari, Spezia, SPAL, Cagliari, and Lecco. His journey in Italy has shaped him into a disciplined, tactical, and calm defender.
On the international stage, Capradossi made his Uganda Cranes debut in June 2024 against Botswana. By mid-2025, he had already earned seven caps, adding valuable international experience to his résumé and boosting his profile.
With no contract in place yet, Capradossi now faces unknown options. He could remain in Italy, seek a fresh challenge elsewhere in Europe, or even consider a maiden to Africa, even though the latter remains the most unlikely of all.
