Great Britain concluded the European Athletics Team Championships in Madrid, securing fifth place overall.
The team, captained by discus thrower Lawrence Okoye, earned 381 points, just 3.5 points shy of fourth.
Debutante Sarah Tait was a standout, securing 15 points with a second-place finish in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, narrowly missing gold by three-hundredths of a second.
Revee Walcott-Nolan (women’s 1500m) and Toby Harries (men’s 200m) both achieved third-place finishes.
Bekah Walton, just five months post-surgery, threw 58.63m for fourth in the women’s javelin, while Scott Lincoln also placed fourth in the men’s shot put.
The 4x400m mixed relay team of Lina Nielsen, Toby Harries, Emily Newnham, and Samuel Reardon claimed third, matching second-placed Italy’s time.
On Friday, Samuel Reardon, 21, set a championship record and personal best of 44.60 seconds to win the 400m.
The ‘world’s fastest accountant’, Eugene Amo-Dadzie, also impressed, taking top spot in the men’s 100m with a time of 10.07 seconds.
While Italy successfully defended their title, Great Britain’s performance showcased promising talent for future competitions.
