Just days after news broke of a mass contract expiry that has left Kitara on the edge of a squad meltdown, the club has responded with a bold move, announcing open player trials to scout new talent from across Uganda.
Set to run from July 7th to 21st at Hoima Boma Grounds, the trials will operate daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Kitara are opening their doors to players aged 18 to 28 in a bid to rebuild both its senior and junior teams ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The club is calling on passionate, disciplined footballers from all regions to step up, with no prior registration required.
Walk-ins are welcome. All players need to show up with a valid national ID or school ID and come dressed in full playing gear. Meals and transport, however, will be at the players’ own cost.
This trial initiative is part of Kitara’s broader strategy to reset and reimagine its future following the potential loss of 14 first-team players, including fan favorites like Jude Ssemugabi, Ronald Otti, and Zaga Tumwesigye.
The timing of the trials comes after the reported player exodus and the sudden departure of club president Deo Kasozi.
The club’s interim leadership under Gilbert Nyaika appears to be taking swift action to ensure the team remains competitive.
Kitara finished seventh last season winning 12 games, drawing 8 and losing 10 accumulating a total of 44 points.
