In a bid to develop and promote local basketball talent, Alton Basketball Academy is set for a week-long camp in Mombasa, Kenya.
Boys and girls from various age-grade categories will face off against seven other teams in 10 test games, with 3×3 trials also on the program.
Academy proprietor Alton Asiimwe says the focus is on exposure, with over 20 players selected for the high-performance camp.
The Lugogo-based academy has produced several standout talents over the years, including Shane Birungi, Muwanguzi Musoke, and Jeremiah Muhiirwe — all of whom have earned opportunities in the United States.
Asiimwe believes the Mombasa camp will play a similar role in shaping the next generation.
“Mombasa academies have good competition and we hope to tap into that,” he said. “We’ve lined up a three-day training camp, followed by a film session, friendly games, then a two-day tournament to wrap it all up.”
Alton Basketball Academy runs its training sessions at the French School of Kampala, focusing on equipping young players with core basketball skills.
