Thomas Partey, formerly of Arsenal, has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, London’s Metropolitan Police announced today.
The charges involve three women and allegedly occurred between 2021 and 2022.
Partey, whose Arsenal contract ended Monday, denies all charges.
His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, stated that the Ghanaian international “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
The 32-year-old is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 5. Detectives began their investigation in February 2022.
Partey joined Arsenal in October 2020 and made 130 Premier League appearances. He has also played over 50 matches for Ghana’s national team.
