In a bid to raise awareness about motorcycle-related accidents, the Joe Walker Foundation on Saturday led a 21km road safety walk through Kampala.
Walkers engaged with boda boda riders along key stages of the route, sharing safety tips and discussing the daily risks faced by both riders and passengers.
The event, organized in partnership with Fun Cycling Uganda and other stakeholders, saw participants cover areas including Nakawa, Ntinda, Kamwokya, Nankulabye, and Nakasero.
The main aim was to sensitize all road users—motorcyclists, motorists, and pedestrians—on responsible road behavior to help curb the rising number of accidents.
Joe Walker Foundation founder Joe Walker Beyanga stressed the importance of shared responsibility on the roads.
“Your safety is your responsibility. Caution the boda boda rider to maintain slow speeds. And for car users, always consider every road user,” said Beyanga.
These awareness efforts are part of the broader push to help meet the United Nations’ target of reducing road traffic accidents by 50 percent by 2030.
