With less than a month to go until the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) kicks off, Uganda is entering the final phase of preparations as it gears up to co-host the tournament alongside Kenya and Tanzania.
A high-level delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is scheduled to visit Uganda from July 9 to 10 to inspect facilities and assess readiness for the continental event.
The focus will be on key areas such as team accommodation, training sites, logistics, transport services, security, media broadcasting, and general competition operations.
Uganda’s Mandela National Stadium in Kampala is among the venues that will host matches during CHAN 2024, a tournament reserved for players who compete in their domestic leagues.
The CAF team will evaluate the stadium’s readiness during its visit and hold workshops with local organizers to ensure all systems are in place.
The inspection tour, which started on July 3 in Nairobi, Kenya, is part of CAF’s last round of checks across all three host nations.
The delegation will visit Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania before concluding in Uganda.
CHAN 2024 officially kicks off on August 2 in Tanzania at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
