Dr. Taibu Aza was on Saturday confirmed as FUFA’s new second vice president, taking over the position left vacant following the death of Darius Mugoye in 2023.
The announcement was made during the federation’s elective assembly held at Hoima Resort Hotel.
Aza, who previously chaired the FUFA Judicial Commission, represents the Uganda Women Football Association in the FUFA Assembly.
“I’m overwhelmed because the road ahead is both exciting and challenging,” she said.
“But I’m committed to serving the game. I’ll work hard to strengthen our structures and governance to ensure football continues to grow in this country. My promise is to work hand in hand with the president to achieve that growth.”
A lawyer by profession, Aza joins Agnes Mugena and third vice president Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi as the women on FUFA’s executive committee.
Uganda Beach Soccer Association chairman Deo Mutabazi and BUL FC chairman Ronald Barente also joined the committee, which was expanded from 15 to 17 members following recent amendments.
Other members of the executive committee include first vice president Justus Mugisha, Rogers Byamukama, Rasoul Ariga, Isa Magoola, Dan Obote, Frank Ankunzire, Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe, Rogers Mulindwa, and Ronnie Kalema.
