Newly appointed KCCA co-coach Brian Ssenyondo has declared that his arrival at Lugogo marks not just the fulfilment of a lifelong dream, but the start of a bold mission to return the club to its winning ways.
In his first public interview since taking the job, Ssenyondo spoke with conviction about reigniting the spirit of one of Uganda’s most decorated clubs, which hasn’t lifted a major trophy in six years.
For the tactician, it’s more than a job—it’s personal.
“I might be like David in the Bible who was under-looked and underestimated by his brothers,” he said.
“But he was the one anointed by Samuel and rose to become a king who brought peace to a nation that had suffered.”
That underdog story mirrors Ssenyondo’s own journey. He began coaching at just 16 years old after critics dismissed his playing career.
Rather than fold, he turned their doubt into fuel. Now, with years of experience behind him and a reputation for tactical sharpness, he’s stepping into the most high-profile role of his career.
Ssenyondo who will work alongside Jackson Magera says his strategy to rebuild KCCA’s stature will be rooted in discipline, fearless leadership, and intelligent football.
He wants to instil belief in the dressing room, pride in the shirt, and fear in opponents. But more than that, he wants to build a team that wins—and wins with style.
The club’s faithful, starved of silverware since 2019, are hungry for change. Ssenyondo believes he’s the man to deliver it.
“This is not just a dream come true,” he said. “It’s the beginning of something big.”
