Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana will miss the club’s pre-season tour of the United States due to a hamstring injury sustained in training.
The 29-year-old Cameroon international will still travel with the team for recovery, but his absence means Altay Bayindir, 27, is expected to step up as Ruben Amorim’s first-choice goalkeeper for the US fixtures.
Onana’s injury raises questions about United’s goalkeeping options, especially given previous speculation about seeking alternatives despite Amorim’s trust in him.
While veteran Tom Heaton, 39, recently signed an extension, younger prospects like Radek Vitek lack senior experience.
United begins their pre-season against Leeds on July 19th in Stockholm, followed by matches against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton in the US, before concluding preparations against Fiorentina on August 9th.
Their Premier League season kicks off against Arsenal on August 17th.
