The Mandela National Stadium in Namboole has been given the green light by CAF after a successful final round of inspections ahead of the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania from 2 to 30 August 2025.
CAF officials wrapped up their eight-day tour of East Africa with a detailed visit to Uganda on 9 July.
The delegation, made up of experts from CAF’s Competitions, Media, Marketing, Broadcast, Infrastructure, and Safety & Security departments, was joined by Uganda’s Local Organising Committee as they reviewed the country’s readiness to host its share of the tournament.
Namboole Stadium, which has undergone major renovations in recent months, is set to be one of the key venues during the CHAN finals.
CAF praised the Ugandan government and local organisers for their cooperation and commitment in getting facilities ready on time.
The inspection mission is seen as a crucial step in the final countdown to kick-off, with the tournament now just weeks away.
Uganda will co-host CHAN for the first time, marking a major milestone for the country’s football development and showcasing its growing capacity to stage high-level continental events.
The CHAN tournament features national teams made up exclusively of players active in their home countries’ domestic leagues.
