Guinea’s national team, the Syli Local, have kicked off final preparations for the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) with a two-phase training program.
The team started with an intensive six-day camp in Morocco before traveling to Douala, Cameroon, for a series of warm-up matches.
Led by head coach Souleymane Camara, the team is focused on tactical fine-tuning and building cohesion.
In Cameroon, they will play two closed-door friendlies against fellow CHAN participants Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic to ensure maximum focus.
Guinea, making its fourth appearance at the tournament, aims to surpass its previous semi-final finishes in 2016 and 2020.
Coach Camara stated, “We want to break the barrier and reach the final for the first time.”
The Syli Local will compete in Group C against Algeria, Uganda, South Africa, and Niger. The tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, begins on August 2.
