Midfielder Chantelle Louise Boye-Hlorkah led Ghana to a crucial 4-1 victory over Tanzania, securing the Black Queens a spot in the WAFCON 2024 quarterfinals.
Named Woman of the Match, the 29-year-old was a commanding force in the midfield, neutralizing Tanzania’s key player, Diana Msewa.
While she capped her brilliant game with a goal, her leadership and tireless work rate were what truly defined her impact.
“I am so happy,” Boye-Hlorkah said after the game. “The award could have been given to any of my teammates. I am so proud of Ghana.”
This new-look Black Queens squad, featuring only a handful of players with prior WAFCON experience, showed remarkable character in a must-win match.
Goals from Princella Adubea, Alice Kusi, and Evelyn Badu set the stage for Boye-Hlorkah to seal the comfortable win, marking the first time Ghana has scored four goals in a WAFCON match since 1998.
With their knockout stage spot now secured, Ghana will face Algeria on July 19.
