Guinea’s national team, the Syli Local, are set to play two crucial friendly matches against Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic (CAR) in Douala, Cameroon, as their final preparations for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
The tournament kicks off on August 2 in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The Guinean Football Federation (FGF) confirmed these matches will be behind closed doors, with Guinea facing Burkina Faso on July 24 and CAR on July 28.
Coach Souleymane Camara sees these as essential tests, stating, “These matches are more than just friendlies – they are a benchmark to test our progress and readiness.”
These friendlies follow a six-day intensive camp in Morocco.
Guinea, making their fourth CHAN appearance, aim for a historic final after reaching the semi-finals in 2016 and 2020.
They are in a challenging Group C alongside Algeria, Uganda, South Africa, and Niger.
