Two-time AFCON winner Serge Aurier is on a mission to return to the Ivory Coast national team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Currently a free agent after leaving Galatasaray, the 32-year-old defender is actively seeking a new club project to ensure he’s in prime condition for these major tournaments.
“Today, I aspire to play in the next Africa Cup of Nations and the upcoming World Cup. These are achievable goals for me,” Aurier told KAMPO.
He emphasized the need for a “serious project” that will prepare him physically and mentally, as national coach Emerse Faé is unlikely to select players without competitive game time.
Aurier, who played in the 2014 World Cup, is also driven by a desire to help Ivory Coast advance past the World Cup group stages for the first time.
His pursuit of the right club is key to achieving both his personal ambitions and contributing to the Elephants’ future success.
