West Ham United have completed the signing of 20-year-old Senegal defender El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague for a fee of £19 million.
The rising star, who can play at left-back or left wing-back, joins the Hammers on a long-term contract.
Diouf was a key player in Slavia Prague’s Czech top-flight title victory last season, scoring seven goals and contributing to a defense that conceded just 18 goals in 35 matches.
He told the club’s website he chose West Ham because it presented “a good plan” for his career.
Manager Graham Potter praised the signing, calling Diouf “young, hungry, and ambitious.”
The defender has four caps for Senegal, including a recent appearance in a 3-1 friendly win against England in June.
