Manchester United have submitted a third bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, potentially reaching £70 million.
The offer, comprising an initial £65 million plus £5 million in add-ons, awaits Brentford’s response.
United aim to secure the 25-year-old Cameroon international before their US pre-season tour begins on Tuesday, with Manager Ruben Amorim keen to integrate him into the squad.
Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, preferred a move to Old Trafford despite interest from clubs like Tottenham.
The potential transfer addresses United’s offensive woes, as their 44 Premier League goals last season marked their lowest return since 1973-74.
Mbeumo’s arrival would likely see captain Bruno Fernandes adopt a deeper role and further diminish chances for exiled forwards Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony.
United kick off their Premier League season at home against Arsenal on August 17.
