Uganda Cranes forward Rogers Mato was once again on the scoresheet for FK Vardar in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
He scored one of the two goals for the visitors in the 2-2 draw against La Fiorita, with the North Macedonian side advancing 5-2 on aggregate.
Before his goal on Thursday, Mato had also found the net against the same opposition in the first leg, which ended 3-0 in favor of Vardar last week.
Just like in the first round, Mato came off the bench at the restart while Vardar were trailing 1-0 at halftime after conceding an early penalty to Affonso Rodrigues in the 10th minute.
About fifteen minutes after Mato’s introduction, Vardar were awarded a penalty, and the Ugandan calmly stepped up to convert, leveling the match at 1-1 in the 59th minute.
Vardar then turned the game on its head in the 84th minute courtesy of an own goal by Andrea Grandoni.
However, the visitors conceded a late equalizer in stoppage time (93rd minute) through an own goal by Georgije Jankulov.
With this result, Mato and his team move a step closer to the Europa Conference League group stages and will face Lausanne of Switzerland in the next round of qualifiers.
