Swansea City Football Club have announced a surprising new co-owner: legendary American rapper Snoop Dogg.
The 53-year-old, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has acquired a minority stake in the Championship club, following Real Madrid legend Luka Modric into the ownership group.
Snoop Dogg, who unexpectedly modeled Swansea’s new home kit last weekend, expressed his excitement, stating his move into club ownership with Swansea felt “special” due to the club’s “underdog” spirit.
With a massive social media following, Snoop Dogg’s involvement is set to significantly boost Swansea City’s global profile.
Club owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, who led the November takeover, emphasized that Snoop Dogg’s “colossal global fanbase” will help expand the club’s reach and profile, ultimately allowing for more investment in the team.
To mark the occasion, a mural of the hip-hop icon has been unveiled at the Swansea.com Stadium.
