West Ham United are on the verge of signing England international full-back Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old joins the Hammers after his contract with Southampton expired, following a dramatic turn of events that saw a move to Turkish club Besiktas fall through.
Walker-Peters, who has two England caps, was on the verge of joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas but the deal was called off after he delayed his medical, reportedly due to interest from West Ham.
The defender made 202 appearances for Southampton, initially joining on loan from Tottenham before a permanent move in 2020.
He played a crucial role in the Saints’ promotion back to the Premier League last season, featuring in 43 league games.
Walker-Peters’ arrival adds to West Ham’s recent transfer activity, which includes the £19 million signing of El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague and the permanent transfer of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice.
