Liverpool have finalized a £69 million deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, with the fee potentially rising to £79 million.
The 23-year-old French international is expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday before signing a six-year contract and joining the squad’s Asia tour.
Ekitike’s arrival pushes Liverpool’s summer spending past £250 million, following the signings of Florian Wirtz (£116m) and defenders Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong (£70m combined).
Ekitike scored 15 goals last season for Frankfurt, who finished third in the Bundesliga.
This move comes after Newcastle had a £70 million bid for him rejected earlier this month.
