By Daniel Muwonge

Uganda Cranes fell 1–0 to Tanzania on Monday afternoon in their opening game of the CECAFA 3 Nations Tournament, hosted at the Black Rhino Academy Stadium in Karatu.

Tanzania took an early lead through Idd Nado in the 14th minute, capitalising on a loose defensive shape by Uganda. The hosts controlled much of the first half, pressing high and forcing Uganda to play on the back foot.

The Cranes grew into the game after the break, dominating possession and pushing Tanzania deeper into their own half.

Captain Allan Okello led from the front, dictating play in midfield and keeping Uganda on the front foot. Despite their second-half dominance, Uganda couldn’t find a breakthrough, with missed chances proving costly.

“It wasn’t an easy game. We dominated most of the time, especially in the second half,” Okello said after the final whistle. “We needed to create more chances and make better use of the ones we had.”

The result leaves Uganda looking for a response when they face Senegal in their next outing, but the performance showed promise, especially in terms of possession and pressing.
