Ugandan top referee Shamirah Nabadda has been appointed to officiate the blockbuster Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final between Nigeria and South Africa, slated for Tuesday, at the Stade Larbi Zaouli.
The highly anticipated clash brings together two giants of African women’s football in what promises to be a thrilling contest. Nigeria are the record holders, while South Africa are the defending champions.
This will be Nabadda’s third assignment at the tournament. She previously took charge of Morocco’s 2-2 stalemate Zambia and their 1-0 victory against Senegal.
Nabadda’s steady rise continues to draw admiration across the continent. Her ability to manage pressure and maintain order in tense encounters has earned her the trust of CAF’s refereeing panel.
Previously, she officiated at the 2024 Olympics, 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations, 2023 African Women’s Champions League, and the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
With the stakes sky-high in the Nigeria vs South Africa semi-final, Nabadda’s experience and authority will be key in ensuring a fair and well-managed encounter.
