Liverpool have completed the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike for an initial £69 million, subject to international clearance.
The 23-year-old Frenchman’s arrival pushes Liverpool’s summer spending past £250 million.
Ekitike has passed his medical and agreed personal terms, and will join Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia this week. Frankfurt accepted a deal worth £79 million, with £10 million in add-ons.
This major signing follows the arrivals of Florian Wirtz (£116m) and defenders Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong (combined £70m), signaling a significant financial outlay by the Reds. Newcastle had also seen a £70 million bid for Ekitike rejected earlier this month.
Ekitike had a standout season for Frankfurt, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in 31 Bundesliga starts, helping his team to a third-place finish. He was among the top scorers and led the league in shots on goal.
Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche praised Ekitike’s development, stating, “We are delighted that he can now take the next step – a step he has earned through his performances with us.”
