Lugazi have confirmed the signing of holding midfielder Amos Etoju on a two-year contract ahead of the new season.
Etoju joins from Kitara, where he made seven appearances across all competitions in the second half of last season.
He had signed for Kitara in January 2025, having impressed at Mbale Heroes during the first round of the Uganda Premier League campaign, where he featured in ten games.
“I’m excited and glad to join Lugazi. I want to commit myself here, work so hard and help the club achieve its goals,” Etoju said after putting pen to paper. “I also want to improve as a player and I believe this is the perfect place for me to develop.”
He added, “I know there are some challenges that will come along but I’m ready to face them. I’ll handle every situation the way it comes because I have to succeed here.”
Etoju brings both experience and versatility to Lugazi’s midfield. While primarily a holding midfielder, he is also comfortable at centre-back. Known for his game reading, accurate passing, and ability to balance defensive and attacking transitions, he is expected to take charge of Lugazi’s midfield next season.
The 2025 signing becomes the latest in a string of players to make the move to Lugazi as the club looks to strengthen its squad.
Etoju has previously played for Ngora Freda Carr, MYDA FC, and Jinja North United. He also featured for Busoga United and BUL FC in the Uganda Premier League.
