Everton manager David Moyes has voiced significant concern over the club’s summer transfer window, stating they are “running out” of time to make desired signings.
Speaking in Chicago, Moyes revealed that despite available funds, targeted deals haven’t materialized.
This news comes as a blow for fans who anticipated a strong “reboot” for the club following a 13th-placed finish last season and the upcoming move to a new stadium.
“The truth is we’re not getting a lot of the deals over the line at the moment,” Moyes admitted, adding, “We’re desperate to get things moving on because we know time’s running out.”
High-profile targets like Manchester City’s Jack Grealish and Fulham’s Kenny Tete have eluded the club.
While young left-back Adam Aznou and reserve keeper Mark Travers have joined, Moyes stressed the difficulty in attracting experienced players, noting the loss of five key starters, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Pre-season results have been poor, and following a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, Moyes stated he needs six more players. He expressed surprise at the struggle, attributing it partly to Everton’s recent flirtation with relegation.
