Kiira Motors Corporation has officially launched the E-Cycling Expo 2025 at Next Media Park, kickstarting a fresh push for electric mobility in Uganda.
The event that happened on Wednesday 30th July brought together cyclists, tech enthusiasts, and environmental advocates to celebrate the promise of cleaner, faster, and more inclusive urban transport.
The highlight was a 5KM ride along the scenic Naguru East Road, where professionals and first-time riders tested out electric bicycles.
The e-bikes turned heads for their speed, smooth handling, and ease of use—qualities that many believe could transform how Ugandans view cycling.
“This is more than a sport,” said Elijah Turyagumanawe a communications officer at the Secretariat of Technology and Innovation.
“Electric bicycles are not just eco-friendly but faster, smoother, and easier to maneuver. It’s going to be a game changer for Ugandan cyclists.”
Participants praised the performance of the e-bikes, with many trying one out for the first time. The ride wasn’t just about speed—it was about proving that electric bicycles can be a real alternative to fuel-powered transport, especially in a congested city like Kampala.
