Manchester United have made RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko their top striker target for the summer.
The 22-year-old Slovenian forward could be available for around £70 million, according to an informal agreement with his club that allows him to leave for an elite suitor.
Sesko, who has been linked with Newcastle, is highly rated, boasting an impressive scoring record for RB Leipzig and Slovenia.
While United also considered Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Villa’s unwillingness to sell and Watkins’ limited resale value have shifted focus to Sesko.
Despite significant recent spending, Old Trafford sources indicate that while United doesn’t have to sell players to buy, they do aim to generate funds from the sale of several ‘bomb squad’ members.
Sesko’s 6ft 5in frame would add a significant physical presence to United’s attack.
