The Uganda Men’s National Basketball Team, the Silverbacks, have unveiled their final 12-man squad ahead of the AfroBasket 2025 tournament set to tip off in Angola.
The announcement was made earlier today, featuring a blend of experienced players and rising talent expected to represent the country with pride on the continental stage however this time round it’s been different as we miss big names from the previous Afro basketball tournaments.

The final selection followed a rigorous training and scouting process. Assistant Coach Andrew Tendo admitted narrowing the squad down to 12 was no easy task.
“The difficult thing is when leveling to the final 12 players,” Tendo said, acknowledging the depth of talent they had to choose from.
He also praised the work of Albert the team manager who played a key role in scouting and evaluating the players.
“I know they are good basketball players , playing active basketball players and confident they will execute,” added Tendo.
“Most of these players are currently active and gelling will be easy.”
Before the championship begins, the Silverbacks will head to South Africa for a training camp for 10 days .
The camp is designed to fine-tune team chemistry and strategy ahead of their highly anticipated appearance at AfroBasket 2025 in Angola.
Uganda is aiming for a strong performance in the tournament as the face Egypt , Senagal, and Mali, building on recent progress in African basketball and the growing reputation of the Silverbacks as one of the continent’s rising teams.
