Uganda Cranes left-back, Mustafa Kizza, is making a return to Lugogo for the upcoming season, but not in the familiar colours of KCCA. This time, he’ll be representing NEC.
Kizza, known for his impressive spells with KCCA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, will be donning the colours of the Diehards, who also play their home games at Lugogo.
The 25-year-old has signed a two-year deal with NEC FC, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2026/2027 season.
On his unveiling, Kizza reflected on his deep connection to the stadium: “Of course, Lugogo is home, and I know every beat of it. This is where I started, and I’m grateful to be back, now as a man.”
Kizza’s return to Lugogo marks a new chapter in his career, one where he’ll help NEC FC make their debut in the Confederation Cup, an exciting first for the club.
This move is strategic as the team prepares for continental football, and with Kizza’s experience, he will be a key asset.
“I’ve been there at the very top, let’s go Diehards,” Kizza added, highlighting his experience in continental competitions.
Previously, Kizza has played for KCCA FC, Express FC, and has had stints abroad with Montreal Impact (USA), Arouca (Portugal), and Telcom (Egypt), the latter of which he admitted regretting in a candid interview on NBS Sport.
Kizza’s arrival marks NEC FC’s first official signing for the new season, with more additions expected.
Meanwhile, Enock Ssebagala’s departure from NEC was confirmed when he joined Vipers SC.
