Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard is returning to his alma mater, Weber State, to become the men’s basketball team’s general manager.
The announcement was made Saturday night during the Weber State Basketball Alumni Classic, an event Lillard hosted.
Lillard, who played for the Wildcats from 2008-2012, shared his passion for helping the program and mentoring players.
He was a two-time Big Sky Player of the Year and his No. 1 jersey has been retired by the university.
Currently recovering from an Achilles tendon tear that will likely sideline him for the upcoming NBA season, Lillard’s new role allows him to stay involved in basketball while he rehabilitates.
