The highly anticipated rematch between British boxing rivals Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn is officially back on, with a new date set for November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The announcement, made by organizers Ring Magazine and shared by Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, comes after a previously scheduled September 20 bout fell through.
The news brings an end to weeks of uncertainty that saw the rematch declared “dead” by Hearn in July, amid concerns that Eubank would not be ready for the earlier date.
The driving force behind the new November date is Turki Alalshikh, who also initiated the original September announcement.
The first clash between the two middleweight fighters in April was a major event, drawing huge attention as it mirrored the historic rivalry of their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, 35 years prior. Eubank Jr. won the first bout by a unanimous decision (116-112 on all three scorecards), a result that immediately fueled calls for a rematch from fans and promoters alike.
While Benn’s camp and promoter have confirmed the November date, Eubank Jr. and his team have not yet commented on the announcement.
This silence is similar to his response to the original September fight announcement, which some analysts believe was an indication that he had reservations about the terms or the timing of the bout.
The first fight, described by some as “capturing lightning in a bottle,” was a carefully managed event that delivered a thrilling spectacle.
