The fourth edition of the USSSA National Swimming Gala will take place this Saturday, August 9, at Seroma Christian High School in Mukono District, bringing together 24 secondary schools from across Uganda.
This marks the second straight year Seroma is hosting the national event, which is organised by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA).
The gala will feature 455 swimmers — 244 boys and 211 girls — competing in various individual and relay events. The event also serves as a qualifier for the FEASSA Games scheduled for later this month in Kakamega, Kenya.
Seeta High Main Campus leads in numbers, fielding the largest team with 66 swimmers. Elite High School Entebbe, Nabumali High, Greenhill Academy, and King’s College Budo follow with sizable contingents. The hosts, Seroma, will be represented by 27 swimmers.
Among the 24 competing schools, eight are making their debut at the national level. These include IGCSE International, Muzza High School, North Green, Our Lady of Good Counsel Gayaza, Rubby International, Shree Shahajanand, Andrew’s College Sanda, and The Kings Learning Christian Academy.
British School of Kampala returns as defending champions after topping the 2024 combined team scores with 414 points. They’ll be challenged closely by Seroma Christian High School (390), Aga Khan High School (342), and Greenhill Academy (338), who all had strong finishes last year.
