Uganda Cranes defender Nathan Asiimwe scored his first goal of the season to seal AFC Wimbledon’s 2-0 win over Lincoln City in League One on Saturday.
Asiimwe struck in the 77th minute, finishing calmly at the far post after a sweeping Wimbledon move.
His goal capped off a solid defensive display, as the hosts kept a clean sheet and claimed their first league win of the campaign.
Lincoln had been reduced to 10 men in the 23rd minute when Adam Jackson was shown a straight red card for a high challenge.
Wimbledon made the numerical advantage count before halftime, with Matty Stevens converting a penalty after Sonny Bradley handled in the box.
Asiimwe’s late strike ensured there was no way back for the visitors and underlined his growing importance for both club and country.
