Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is feeling optimistic as his team prepares for the new Premier League season.
Coming off a Club World Cup victory and an unbeaten pre-season, the Blues appear ready to hit the ground running.
The Blues secured the Club World Cup in July with a 3-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain and ended their pre-season with a commanding 4-1 victory over AC Milan.
New signings João Pedro and Liam Delap both scored against Milan, a performance Maresca praised for its intensity.
“I’m confident in general and excited. We have another long season ahead and we are going to try to do our best,” the Italian manager said.
João Pedro, who has five goals in five games, highlighted the strong partnership with fellow striker Delap, who scored a brace against Milan.
“I think it is very good for Chelsea to have both strikers at a good level,” Pedro commented. Chelsea’s season kicks off on August 17 against Crystal Palace.
