Fort Portal City will host a major motorsport weekend from August 22 to 24 when the Fort Portal City Rally Championship takes to its winding roads.
The event is the third last round of the 2025 National Rally Championship and is expected to draw some of Uganda’s top drivers and large crowds of fans.
With the title race entering its decisive stage, points are more valuable than ever.
Posiano Lwakataka, fresh from winning the previous NRC round, will be looking to strengthen his championship bid. Ronald Ssebuguzi, Yassin Nasser, Peter Kalule, and Duncan Mubiru are also set to challenge on the demanding Fort Portal routes.
Uganda Motor Sport Club Vice President Stuart Kimera has urged spectators to keep safety in mind.
“We urge everyone to keep safety first while at the scene enjoying the speedy game,” he said, adding that fans should come out in numbers to enjoy the weekend’s action.
Rally Clerk of the Course Ahmed Ssemwanga confirmed preparations are almost complete, with route checks done and entries still open until August 16. “The routes are ready for the cars to roar,” he said.
Beyond the competition, the rally is expected to bring a boost to tourism and local business, with hotels, restaurants, and markets preparing for an influx of visitors.
