Uganda’s Silverbacks will begin their Afrobasket 2025 men’s campaign this afternoon against Senegal in Luanda. The Group D opener tips off at 2 PM.
The tournament features 16 teams split across four groups, with 36 games set to be played from August 12 to 24 in the Angolan cities of Luanda and Moçâmedes. Uganda will face Mali on August 14 and close the group stage against Egypt on August 16.
Senegal hold a perfect head-to-head record against Uganda, winning both of their previous meetings.
They last met in the 2021 group phase, where Senegal triumphed 93-55. The first encounter came at Afrobasket 2015, with Senegal winning 79-48 in the round of 16.
Uganda head into the competition after a ten-day training camp in South Africa focused on sharpening plays, building chemistry, and refining execution.
Uganda are targeting an improvement on their historic sixth-place finish in 2021 and will be seeking a first-ever win over Senegal.
