Leeds United, the newly-promoted Premier League side, have reached an agreement to sign former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old is now scheduled for a medical at the club, bringing an end to his nine-year tenure at Everton.
Calvert-Lewin, who joined Everton from Sheffield United for £1.5m in 2016, scored 71 goals in 273 appearances for the club.
His departure was described as an “incredibly difficult decision.”
The move adds a significant attacking option for Leeds United manager Daniel Farke, whose other striking options include Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha.
The transfer also comes as Patrick Bamford has been informed he is not part of the manager’s plans for the season, and Mateo Joseph has been loaned to Mallorca.
The striker’s most successful season was in 2020-21, when he netted 16 goals in 33 Premier League games and was a part of the England squad that reached the European Championship final.
However, he has since struggled with injuries and form, starting just over half of the 26 matches he played in the 2024-25 season and has not been capped for England since 2021.
