Team Harima Clinch Katogo Golf Series Third Leg as Kigali Event Confirmed

Moses Ochole and Mulungi Sseruwo of Team Harima won the third edition of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series at Entebbe Club on Saturday, August 9.

Playing under the Daytona format, the pair scored 609 points to secure two RwandAir tickets and other prizes. The event drew a record 172 participants, the highest turnout for a leg in the series so far.

Charles Kakaire and Albert Otete of Team Street finished second with 630 points, winning a weekend for two at Kampala Serena Hotel, while Team BMP’s Francis Mukonyezi and Ronald Pulle took third place on 638 points.

In the gross category, Michael Tumusiime posted a 74 to win overall, while Ellis Katwebaze topped the Katogo Quiz with 18 points.

I&M Bank CEO Robin Bairstow confirmed that the series will stage a regional event in Kigali on November 8, following last year’s cross-border leg in Limuru, Kenya. RwandAir will offer a 30 percent ticket discount to golfers travelling for the event.

Katogo Captain Elly Kibuuka Mukasa praised I&M Bank’s CSR commitment, highlighting ongoing support for school-going caddies and course staff families. Marketing head Annette Nakiyaga said the series was about more than golf, promoting friendships and regional integration, while also encouraging SMEs to tap into the bank’s “Tukikube ne I&M Bank” campaign.

Uganda Golf Union president Dr Jackson Were used the event to announce the Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship, set for August 22 at Lugazi Hills Golf and Country Club.

The day concluded with a Soul and R&B-themed 19th hole experience hosted by comedian Patrick Idringi Salvador. After the Kigali trip, the Katogo Golf Series will return for its finale on November 29.
