Week 8 of the Uganda Boxing Champions League at Club Obligato delivered knockouts, heavy punches, dramatic results, and a lively crowd. The competition now shifts to the NCS Arena in Lugogo on August 23.
The headline bout features Lukanga Boxing Club’s Serugo Bashir, who is still chasing his first victory of the season, against KCCA Boxing Club’s Kanabi Alex, who has already won twice this campaign.
Serugo, in his fourth Champions League season, is coming off a 4–1 split-decision loss to Kasasa Isaac.
Speaking from his training camp at Zebra Boxing Club in Kawempe, Serugo said he is fully prepared. “I have trained very well and I have no challenges. I have everything I need for my training,” he said. “This season didn’t start so well for me, just like always, but I am working on that.”
Kanabi comes into the fight after defeating Nerrick Tumusime, but Serugo dismissed the result. “I’m going to fight someone who only scratched with Nerrick, not someone who beat him,” he said. “I’m going to play you boxing — and I’m going to beat you.”
Over 20 bouts are scheduled for the Lugogo event, with NBS Sport providing live coverage as the official broadcast partner.
