UEFA displayed a banner reading “Stop killing children – Stop killing civilians” during the Super Cup final in Udine, Italy.
The sign was shown before the match between Tottenham and Paris St-Germain.
The event included two refugee children from Gaza, Tala and Mohamed, in the medal ceremony. Nine other refugee children from various conflict zones also took part in the pre-match display.
This comes as Uefa expands its humanitarian aid for children in Gaza, following recent criticism from footballer Mohamed Salah over the organization’s tribute to a Palestinian player.
According to the Hamas-run health ministry, the ongoing conflict has killed nearly 62,000 Palestinians.
